Photographic Portraits by Donna Granata: The Art of Community
September 3 - October 7, 2009
Donna Granata is especially known for her portrait series of outstanding artists. She has created more than 140 photographic portraits specific to this series, each one revealing the individual character of the artist. When the portraits are shown in a large group, the artists photographed are no longer anonymous, not longer just a name. They are viewed as vibrant human beings. More information.

Postmodern Calligraphies

Reception: Sunday, March 1st, 12-2pm, coincided with a CAA conference tour which includes Insight/Inside LA at José Drudis-Biada Gallery at Mt. St. Mary’s College and a visit to the Getty Villa. Malibu, CA.
This exhibition exposes contemporary artistic practices and novel signatory presences derived from broad interdisciplinary dialogues. Its focus on architecture, photography, and landscape architecture realigns artistic boundaries and proposes an inclusive understanding of art. The intricate dialogues between natural and built environment suggested by the artists are emphasized by innovative displays and eclectic use of media. Elegant lines, sophisticated shapes, and idiosyncratic palettes create a vibrant calligraphy with significant conceptual ramifications. more information

This exciting exhibition features original, innovative work created by the accomplished CSUCI art faculty. It will illustrate the diversity of the faculty group through a wide range of artistic approaches, philosophies and media. These talented individuals are all practicing artists and scholars recognized in their respective fields in addition to being outstanding teachers.
Art faculty participating in the exhibition include Jack Reilly, Matthew Furmanski, Liz King, Luke Matjas, Catie Mihalopoulos, Beverly Decker, Christophe Bourely, Amiko Matsuo, Sean Dowey, Michael Steffen, Rachel Myers, Larry Lytle, Aldo Figueroa, Peter Harper, Kathleen Quaife, Mick Reinman, and James Graca.

Located in the center of the CSUCI campus. The new university library is a landmark building, designed by world renowned architect, Sir Norman Foster. This fabulous space offers a gallery space and numerous, dramatic exhibition areas located throughout the bright and airy structure.
