We welcome freshmen and transfer students to the CSUCI Art Program, as well as students at any level without any prior artistic background. We also have a lot of students who take a few classes and yes, CHANGE their major to Art (it’s a pretty simple form!). On that note, we’ve looked at the statistics, and very few students change FROM Art to something else, so that probably means we’re doing something right.
There is NO portfolio requirement so you can declare the major and get right into the classes you really want to take. Also, unlike many more impacted colleges and universities, you will be able to sign up to take Art classes in your very first semester. Even with a minor in Art, or just a passing interest, you can get into our courses and learn how to make some great stuff.
